Moving a UK Pension to a US one

Can anyone help me?

My wife and I both have UK pensions and would like to move them over to our US equivelent (401K etc), does any one know if this is possible and if so do you know anybody that does this type of thing.

We are both under 50 and the UK is changing laws to extend the period upto which you can access the funds (upto 65)

Please Help..

Have a search, it's been discussed a fair bit...but the gist, it ain't worth the hassle.

We've never found anyone who's actually managed it, yet! Though there's an interesting post recently about those companies who are authorized to so do by the UK tax authorities.

I enquired about accessing the funds in my pension account and was told that I couldn't do so. Maybe it depends on the pension though, and how long you've been paying into it.
