This is exactly my thinking - in my later years, I shall be one of:

- well-off from my other investments, so won't care overmuch whatever they do with the UK pension;

- of modest means, in which case I'll be in the group of people who would still get one, and be very thankful for it;

- dead.

I'm hoping, and planning, that it'll be the first one. But it's good to have a back-up plan.
