Default Moving to San Diego from Sacramento

Hi,

My husband and I are moving from Sacramento to San Diego in early December. We will be working just north of the city, circa the Qualcomm campus area / Mira Mesa.

Any advice or tips on areas to live in, both coastal and inland would be much appreciated!

Some more info:
We have a budget for monthly rent of up to $3000 for 2 bed 2 bath.
We are in our early 30's so want to make a few friends.
We are planning to start a family soon all being well.
We like being outdoorsy (hiking, cycling, beaching).

Thanks in advance!

Anywhere along the coast is good (and more expensive of course): Pacific Beach, La Jolla, Carlsbad, Encinitas, Cardiff etc

Inland is hotter: Poway, Rancho Bernardo, Escondido, Scripps Ranch

They all have what you are looking for with regard family, outdoor activities.
