Moving to MA
Hi All
Wondered if anyone can help - we're moving from the Chicago suburbs to Massachusetts later this summer and hoped that someone here could give us an idea as to the better areas to live. My husband will be working for company in Lowell so will need somewhere in commuting distance. Any ideas?
Thanks in advance.

Depends how much you are willing to pay. Westford and Littleton seem to be nice areas and are close to Rt 495 that takes you past Lowell. We live out in the sticks about 35 miles from Lowell in a small town that isn't as expensive as Westford and Littleton. If you have kids, look at the school districts charts. I don't think I would live in Lowell it is too big a place for our tastes personally. In the other direction is Andover. Very nice town, but mega expensive. If you need more info PM me. jo.

The problem with the Boston area (just like most places) is that anything good isn't cheap. Towns like Acton, Boxborough, Harvard and even Lincoln/Lexington are all extremely nice and relatively close to Lowell, but they ain't exactly cheap. Andover's right next door but once again is fairly pricey. Billerica, Tewksbury and Chemlsford are right there and cheaper, but ain't exactly nice.
Boston in general (I'm a Massachusetts native currently living in Chicago) is much more expensive than Chicago. Be prepared for sticker shock in housing and general cost of living.
We'd probably need to know more about your price range.
