Depends, are you a US citizen, a LPR or have some other kind of visa to allow you to move there? If not, then no, you can't just up and move without the right to live there.

Start here to figure out if you'd qualify for a visa if you don't already have one - http://britishexpats.com/wiki/Pulaski's_Ways%3A_How_to_Live_and_Work_in_the_USA

HTH, good luck.

Short Answer: No

Long Answer: Unless you qualify for a visa, no. The link given above is the place to start.

a) there are no retirement visas. Check the link and see if there are any others that you qualify for.

b) you need to consider health insurance costs for an older person without a job. It could--easily--be over $1,000 USD a month and you will NOT qualify for most US government health programs until you live in the USA at least five years as a permanent resident.

Yes. You would need capital of $500k (in reality probably closer to $600k) to purchase that right, and you should assume that you will derive no interest from this investment and any principle you later manage to get returned is a bonus rather than a right. Beyond this your pensions should return an income of at least $100k/year (cheap cost of living area) to, say, $200k/year (higher cost of living area).
