If anyone in the US on a non-immigrant visa applies for a "green card", they have to have the same medical exam.

School entry requirements are their own thing, and for any child attending the school, visa or not. Not sure what the upset is about the vax requirements; they are not a mystery or secret.

(if you drink 'too many' units of alcohol, you are banned from the US, and no I'm not joking.)
Its Crazy but not such a bad thing, they are only trying to protect their country.... As for Alcohol, i'm a fitness freak so i don't drink, but good to know

Then do read up on the DEFRA pet passport scheme -- if you will just be in the US for two years, you will want to be sure that you can get your dog back into the UK without quarantine. Ten weeks is probably too short a time to get it set up before you leave, but you don't need it to enter the US and can then organize it at this end so that you are prepared. In the meantime, be sure that your pet has his rabies shot so that he arrives protected.

Also check with the state what type of rabies vaccine is required...some want live vaccine...others don't.

Well there are quite a few car threads going and some info on the credit side on the wiki to explain it. There's also a thread on lease v buy, if it's a definite 2 year only posting a lease might work for you, but then again, depends on your budget and what you fancy driving.

Read the relocation entry in the wiki, it'll tell you what sort of things you can/should expect in the transfer and things you should ask for.\

Also, don't think anyone cares what the job is, but a heads up on the visa would have been helpful such as L1 for transfer, or if it's a diplomatic visa etc.

Still read up what exactly the medical insurance covers, even if you don't have a monthly cost, because the devil is in the details and insurance is usually one of the biggest concerns for people moving here, especially if they have family/kids.

I was just going to post about getting the dog back into the UK and saw Nutmegger has already done it. You're best off starting the Pet Passport scheme whilst in the UK.

At least you know that the chips are the right kind, and make sure when in Vegas you find a vet that understands the scheme I know a couple of friends who've had their pets fall out of the scheme because their vet didn't have a clue

It's about to get much easier to take your dog back to the UK. The wait time between rabies shots and blood tests is being reduced from 6 months to 21 days.
