Default Moving to LA, Cerritos vs. Simi Valley

Hi,

Could anyone please advise how these two places compare to live in?

First thing which springs up in searches is the Nuclear disaster in Simi Valley in 1959. Is there any knowledge as to the effects of this today? Also, Cerritos seems in the middle of the urban sprawl. Are there any areas bad for crime, or social issues in the vicinity?

Thank you

Gezza

Simi Valley is notorious not only for that nuclear accident, but also for being where the first Rodney King trial was in which the police officers were acquitted. It's a very conservative place and home of the Reagan Presidential Library.

Actually for Cerritos you might find Korean, Mandarin and/or Tagalog more useful ...

Yep it's known as the home of bent coppers.

I lived in Simi Valley for a few years, the East side not so good, but on the West you have Wood Ranch area which is nicer. The population there are mainly R*******s or Suits that work at the local Bank of America office, which was once Countrywide.
There is an Indian store on Los Angeles Ave where you can get some Brit products and a Famous Dave's restaurant not too far from the Best Buy. People there pretty much keep to themselves and there is absolutly sweet FA to do in the evening except jump on the 118 for a 40 mins drive (outside of rush hour of course) to Los Angeles.
I moved to Valencia recently and have never stepped foot in Cerritos so can't comment on that.

Hope this is of help to you.

I wouldn't be mentioning this if this wasn't a BRITISH expat board, but Cerritos/Artesia area would be a good option if access to lots of authentic Indian food is a big dealbreaker. There's a reason part of it is called Little India.
