Hi guys,
Just thought I'd follow up and say thanks for all the advice received on this thread. I've now been in L.A. 3 months and things are going really well. I have an apartment, a leased car, bank account and a growing set of friends across the city. Best decision I ever made. Life is good. Despite how long the visa took, the process of arriving, getting SS number has been really very easy. If anyone is thinking of moving on H1B, I am happy to provide advice and help based on my experience. Thanks again! |

I recently moved form London to los Angeles. Despite the fact that LA is the undisputed worst place in the entire world, I have been trying super hard to like it.

[QUOTE=Sally Redux;10721360]Nooo!! I won't have that!
Me neither! I love this city. It really is what you make of it. How I've learnt to enjoy LA: - Lease a nice car as you spend a couple of hours a day in it - Do something active - I hike and paddleboard 2-3 times a week - Explore new neighborhoods - Leave the city regularly - Santa Barbara, Palm Springs, San Diego etc etc all 2 hours away - Have some friends that don't work in entertainment for obvious reasons |

Hey all, just recently received my visa and i am now leaving the UK for the USA in 3 weeks.
Im really just tidying up loose ends in the uk, selling my electronic goods and tings im not going to be shipping. My company are going to be paying for shipping everything else Basically just clothes as im moving out of iving with parents so not much to take. Really im just wondering what to expect when arriving in the US, and specifically LAX airport, if anyone has any personal stories of what goes on? Im nervous, not going to lie, only 2 and moving everything on my own, but my company have really helped this far and will continue to do so. Also what would peoples top 5 things to do when arrive, IE most important after arriving? Thanks in advance for everyones help so far Mark I'm in a similar boat to you. I'm 22 and moving out to Los Angeles on the 21st June. When's your departure? I'm staying in a hostel in Santa Monica until I get myself set up. Would be cool to have a contact out there if your going before me. Lash |
Re: Moving to LA in 3 weeks
This thread is really useful thanks!
I'm 34 and my wife is 28, we're moving to LA on Green Cards in early September... Exciting! We've really enjoyed staying in Los Feliz previously so we're going to try and find an apartment there. It's a bit daunting as we don't have any employment lined up... But I'm sure it will all work out :-) |
