We're currently looking around for removals firm to ship our stuff back from auckland to the UK. Would appreciate if anyone can give us a few pointers of who they recommend, not recommend and an average cost for a full container.

I would recommend looking for a member of the FIDI network who will hold the FAIM quality certification and make sure they are using a FIDI member here in the UK for delivery, this reduces the risk of any problems during your move as they will be independently audited and certified for their international moving operations. You can find a list of members at www.fidi.com

You can choose either to engage a company based in New Zealand who will use a partner in the UK for customs clearance and delivery or to engage a company based in the UK who will use a partner in Auckland to handle your packing and loading, I'd recommend getting at least 3 quotes that include both options so you can compare the costs but make sure you're comparing like-for-like and they are all including the same services, same volume of goods and same requirements.

In New Zealand we have worked with our UniGroup UTS network member 'The Moving Company' for many years and would have no hesitation recommending their services if you would prefer to work with an NZ based mover.
