Moving from Colorado to Florida - transportation suggestions please
My husband, son and I are moving from Colorado to Florida in the next fortnight. We have a 500 +/- 50cu. ft load already packaged, plus a car (PT Cruiser) to transport. We've looked at U-Haul and Budget rental for hiring a truck and a trailer for the car. Any suggestions for companies please?

We had Golden Van Lines for our move from MA to CO. They did a very good job of it. I suppose that also depends on the crew the company sends. They transported 2 cars as well. They packed everything (that took 4 days as we had a lot of stuff) with only 2 minor breakages. I don't know how much it cost as hubby's company paid for it. I've never used U-Haul or similar companies, so can't give you any info on that.

U-Haul are the bottom feeders of the truck rental business. There's reason they are cheap. Well-known for poorly maintained equipment and lousy customer service. Penske is a much better outfit to deal with.

You were lucky. One day on the Ohio turnpike I was passed by a U-Haul truck that was blowing plumes of white smoke, and the engine was making a horrible racket. I bet my wife that he wouldn't make it to the next gate. He didn't. I know a number of people who have had serious problems with U-Haul. I'm glad you aren't one of them.

will remember that for the future...moving is stressful enough without having to worry about the vehicles you're using !

I know a few that have used both, never heard any of my friends complain about U-haul.

I'm not asking who's best, but simply for recommendations...1900 miles to travel is a lot in a clapped out van

PS, Why the bloody hell anyone would want to swap CO for FL is beyond my imagination.
