Movecorp
Does anyone have any experience using Movecorp?
We opted for them, as they were cheap (£510 for 45 cubic feet) we measured out 45 cubic feet and stuck to it. However when the guys turned up. They repacked everything into there own boxes and said they the volume had increased to 175 cubic feet and now they want an additional £1400!! Is this normal practice? I kinda feel like I am being conned. |

We're taking very little with us, no furniture apart from dining suite and no electricals and we're being quoted around the 300 cubic feet mark which is only a 6½ feet cube. |
Re: Movecorp
It does sound like you possibly had 45 sq ft marked out (6.5 ft * 6.5ft = 45ish) - but it was actually 4ft high (6.5ft * 6.5ft * 4 ft = 175ish).
However - almost £2000 for 175 cubic feet seems expensive. Is it all going airfreight? You should be able to ship a 20ft container for under £5000 - and that is 2000 cubic feet. |
Re: Movecorp
We had it marked out as a area of 6x3x2.5. Its all being shipped.....airfreight would be way to expensive!
Yes its not a lot if space, we were not taking much, just some clothes and sentimental items. Everything else is being sold. |
Re: Movecorp
In that case it does sound like they're ripping you off.

Re: Movecorp
I have emailed them.....and offered to do the packing for them if they cant reduce the volume!

Re: Movecorp
Is it too late to change? I got a few quotes early on - on average they were £550 for 100 cubic feet.
However - I guess your starting and final destination will affect the price! |
Re: Movecorp
It may be a bit late but would be interested to know who you used?

However before we chose the latter I got quotes from Greens Removals, Excess International Removers & DoreeBonner. All came in at around £550 for 100 cubic feet. I did get a quote from another company that was £2000 for 100 sq ft - seemed a bit off so I ignored it. I didn't look into it enough to see if there were any hidden charges with the first 3 quotes - but they seemd ok. |
Re: Movecorp
Ok great thanks for the info.
