Move to NY
Hi,
I know there are many posts out there about moving to New York however I can not find anything recent especially with today's climate. Here is a bit of information about me.
Age: 26
Status: Single
Education: Law Degree, Legal Practice Course, Masters in Criminal and Criminal Justice.
Current Occupation: Investigations Officer for a regulatory body
What I would like to know where can I find jobs advertised and how will i know if they are fake?
Thank everyone

Pulaski's Ways: How to Live and Work in the USA : British Expat Wiki
Your othere way, seeing as how you are single, is on-line dating, find someone in the US get engaged or married and then have them sponsor you. It's not that unusual as many of the brits on here now living in the US did it that way.

Thanks, I have had a look at the post before.
That's why I asked where can I look for a job and I do understand I need to be sponsored. Unfortunately my current employer does not have an office in the states yet.

Don't know where you would look for jobs, specialist publications? etc, if you do find one then they are not that likely to be fake as it will cost the company several thousand dollars to sponsor you for a visa, don't forget it's the company that pays, so any job where they ask you to pay or contribute is to be avoided like the plague.

I would also keep in mind that your education and experience may not be worth the same in the US as it would be in the UK due to the differing legal system and plethora if legal employees already available for work in the US.

Re: Move to NY
There really is no good way to search for jobs at a distance - and, unless you have superior skills, no employer is going to take your CV seriously. I suggest you come to the US for a visit and hit the pavement, so to speak. I also suggest that you make this a 10-year plan... because, in all honesty, getting a job is relatively easy; getting a company to sponsor you for a visa is quite difficult.
FWIW, mikelincs suggestion of specialist publications is terrific!

On a more practical note, the US is awash with law graduates and lawyers, as well as criminal just graduates. The chances of your application making it through even the first level of filters and/or review is effectively zero. Sorry, it just is. ..... My context for this statement? .... I had a marriage visa and was looking to move to NY with my USC wife, and I got ZERO interview invitations despite having a visa already until I actually visited NY, and even then only got interviews because I didn't need employers to apply for a visa for me.
You say you're single. Does that mean you're open to the possibilities of starting a relationship? .... If so have you considered internet dating? No, I am not joking, it is why a fair number of the regulars here on BE are now in the US.

If you are concerned about job opportunities being fake, perhaps have an investigation officer look into them for you.

Where Foreign-trained lawyers can take the bar exam | the National Jurist
And if you should decide to try to become licensed in NY... here:

ps.....Was looking at this:

...and thought: if you could swing it financially - what about enrolling at one of these schools in New York

...I believe if you did so - a visa would be MUCH easier to acquire. Then you'd be in a position to make meaningful contacts and I think(?) you'd even be allowed to have a job at a law firm whilst studying (I might be wrong about that)
