I agree with some of those, Detroit and Flint. I have been to both, and Detroit does'nt really feel dangerous, but its reputation is well known.

We were visiting the areas around Camden NJ and Newark NJ at the weekend, seemed OK to me.

the "city" of Detroit has some proper shitty area's
warren and greenfield and around that area near Dearborn are god awful.
the suburbs are fine, however I wouldn't choose to be anywhere south of 8 mile.
anything nearer Detroit than Ferndale and my car doors are locked and no eye contact is made.

LOLOL... that maybe the case - but you have to remember that 37.5% of statistics are made up.

You will be fine. Most crime involves those connected to drugs and other criminal enterprises. If you are not involved with crime, and keep away from the areas involved in crime, you will be fine. Mostly its criminals killing criminals, or at least thats what a local Police Chief said recently.

Of course other crime does happen, but its like being hit by lightning, the odds are in your favour.

Wink Re: Most Dangerous Cities 2006

Lets take these stats and compare it to the Black or African American population in these "dangerous" cities:

St Louis, MO 51.20% Black African American
Flint, MI 53.27% Black or African American
Detroit, MI 53.27% Black or African American
Compton, CA 40.31% Black or African American
Camden NJ 53.35% Black or African American

U.S., 12.9% of the population Black or African American.

May be they just took the US cities with the highest percentage of black folks and assumed that they must be the most dangerous places. I wonder if they listed cities according to white collar crimes could they just take the US cities with the most white folks and list them from top to bottom? hmmm.....

Anyway, remember to stay away from black people. Apparently their skin colour is very dangerous!

That may be true, but the motel in Memphis I stayed in when I visited Graceland was an interesting experience :scared:

I read him as saying "black" areas were assumed to be the most dangerous - "chicken and egg" situation if some areas are deserted by wealthier people -who under the present system are still more often white (of course a big generalisation)- or something

That's how I read it... but the only person assuming black people=crime is himself.
