Question Most affordable way to turn your GBP savings to USD savings?

We're planning to have one bank account together in the US once we're married. I have some savings in the UK, and I'd like to merge them into our joined savings account.

What's the most affordable way to go about doing this?

Thanks.

Search the US and Trailer Park forums for XE, Forx or World First. There are a great many threads on the subject.

I've no idea... but it's not an immigration issue so the question belongs in a different forum.

Okay, no worries, I'll see if I can find the other forum threads discussing this issue. I take it there is no consensus?

Don't use a bank. ...... Otherwise there are many broadly similar on-line exchange/remitting services.

If you mean consensus on which forex broker to use, not really we all have our favorites. I personally use World First and have done for quite a few years, but they are all very close in costs/exchange rate, just avoid high street banks.

One thing you may want to consider. If you are thinking of closing your UK bank account, it is very difficult to open a new UK bank account once you leave the UK.
