That's the dude. I remember the footie one. The main character lived near me in London and as I recall it was *very* sensationalised.

Funny that this show airs on FX. How long before the Fox overloads cancel it?

Gal went "undercover" living and working based on minimum wage jobs. Lucky her, at the end she could walk away from it.
I was thinking of this same book when I read about Morgan. I haven't read the book but it caused a controversy at the time of publication because it was considered anti-Bush/anti-Republican...

I did have a giggle when he was going through some of the free things to do in Columbus with kids, go visit a bank, take a tour of a hospital, go to the animal shelter.......!!!!!!

Have you read that economics book, forgot the name, but the one that's always being touted at Mr Paperback, breaking down economics into everyday stuff...??

You're going to have to give me more clues...

Published when?

Author or editor is what nationality?

I can't find the words to describe how depressing it made me feel and how angry.
The need for welfare reform, a higher min. wage (which by the way has not been increased by goverment in 8 years) and free health care for the poor was outstanding. A really sad and yet necessary show.
I hope some politicians (from both sides) were watching.

Didn't see it yet, had to tape it because it was on too late for me. But, I've heard the rest of the series is going to be pretty good as well.

Certainly worth watching a repeat. I am sure after the guy made 'Super Size Me' Mc Donalds profits took a bit of a knock. The show really got its point across... God forbid I ever have to live like it... I would like to know how a country that is supposed to be the most progressive in the world can be so in backwards in somethings.

I have read the book, do not remember any overt political digs, apart from the system as a whole.

I read a review, missed the first one, but a series, I think he and his GF, who also got a small part in Supersize were supposed to experience the whole series but she made it clear that after the first one anything else would seriously jeopardize their relationship. So I think he does the commentary.

It needs to be highlighted certainly, but why not use an actual family that are living this way, follow them around and show the reality of living this way without a foreseeable change instead of using someone that at the end of the day can go back to living in luxury?

I think the idea is that people need to put themselves in other people's shoes. Because its easy enough to watch how others will suffer (we do that every day) and then turn off the telly and go back to our own lives.) But, I think Morgan's idea is quite clever in that he's experienced this and will forever be changed. Certainly that's the premise for the rest of his programs coming up....a Christian that goes to live with a Muslim, etc. You can always say "Oh wow that's horrible" but until you've lived that way, you truly will never know.

I remember a book I read years ago-"Black Like Me", was quite a sensation in its time about a white man passing as a black man and walking in those shoes.

Wasn't that turned into a tele show? They had a black guy turned into a white guy, a white person into an asian, a white female catholic into a asian muslim and a few others...was a really interesting show, these people had to live the life for a couple of weeks with a host family and stuff...

Anyway, that economics book I mentioned...remembered the name
