More FBAR
Apologies if i have missed anything on this, but is anyone else having a problem reporting FBAR this year? I loaded previous years return, edited it, and submitted and got the following message:
'IMPORTANT NOTICE: This form version is no longer accepted as of February 1, 2019. FinCEN is only accepting the latest discrete form version (open a new FBAR form to obtain the latest version ) and batch XXML files for the FinCEN FBAR. Please see Hot Topics at https://bsaefiling.fincen.treas.gov for more information' If i open a new form, i see it is the same version (Form 114 1506-0009 1 Oct 2013) as the previous year's one. |

Re: More FBAR
Yes, for whatever reason, they won't let you do a copy and paste.
Even though the form itself is the same as last year's ( in fact, I think it may date back to 2013), you need to download it anew, directly from their site, each year. And then type in whatever info is required. But it shouldn't take more than a few minutes to complete if you have a copy of last year's completed form in front of you while you fill it in. You might even be able to copy and paste at that point, once the (new) form has been downloaded. Easy peasy..... |

Re: More FBAR
How do you end up with 22 accounts requiring FBAR? Company/Business thing?
Just curious. Not looking for specifics. Welcome to BE.:) |

I have 22 accounts to report, it was so much easier being able to open a previous year's and just edit the amounts. I sometimes think it would be worth opening 3 more accounts and then not having to report any of them
That's a different story entirely... not "easy peasy" , more like "squeezy meezy" till I'm "wheezy". Bummer |

Re: More FBAR
Good info, by chance I didn’t copy last year’s FBAR and entered the forms from scratch, copying and pasting from last year. |
Re: More FBAR
I have started to close my UK accounts, reporting 5 USD/year interest (yes, what a high roller I am) is getting draining, and I do not even fill in the forms myself!

Re: More FBAR
I do wonder if we need both personal bank accounts, but this bit is not the hassle.
I forgot to thank MidAtlantic for the info in second post - thanks and thank you to the MMcD for the empathetic posts, and HotScot for the chat I would also like to thank my manager, and family without whom blah blah... |
