Missouri Service Center k-3

Hi,
Does anybody know what is going on with the Missouri Service Center on K-3 visas? I checked the automated number it says 60-90 days for the process i overlapped 25 days ago. Usually it takes 30 -60 days for the approval and now it looks like 200 days for the approval . What is causing all this delays. K3 was suppose to unit as soon possible with there spouses. Any information will be helpful in this matter.

In my experience. In my humble opinion of course. Just tell Missouri to take a
flying leap. Your i-130 will be approved before they get around to anything.
Don't waste your time and money. IMHO

Hi,
Where did you find out from that it's taking 200 days? I have been waiting since April 30th for the K3 approval. My I-130 was approved last month and is at the NVC. I don't know how long the rest of the process will take. NVC has not sent me anything yet. I am hearing that they take atleast 3 months.

I 130's can take up to 2-3 years to process! K3's are less than a year
so I would say that they are reuniting families quicker. Mike C

My wife's i-130 was approved in 6 months. From Nebraska no less. State
Department clearly says that K-3 visas are only for those who do not have an
approved i-130.

That is correct. However, you need to look at when does the state
department consider the 130 approved? Since the 130 can spend several
months at the National Visa Center for the state department they might not
consider it as being approved just because the INS is finished. From
talking to a consulate and reading it on other consulates' sites, the
consulate does not consider the 130 approved until it reaches the consulate.
For some where the K-3 out of Missouri and the 130 from the service center
are approved close to each other, then spouse can be in the US quicker with
the K-3. This takes into consideration the time spent in the NVC and the
extra time needed by the consulate to process the 130 package.

Also on a side note, an officer at Missouri told my congressman's office
that divorce paperwork was needed with the K-3 package if the 130 has not
yet been approved. If we used the service center approval of the 130 as the
cut off for the K-3 then it should be denied at that time, and it is not.

In my opinion, unless you can do a DCF, the K-3 with all the problems in
Missouri is quicker for most people with spouses. People from London are
lucky because the consulate will allow them to open files early. this
allows people to cut down on the back end, while waiting. However, most
consulates will not do that.

It depends on which service center you have to use. The processing times for I-130s (Immediate Relative) are as follows:

Vermont - June 21, 2002
Nebraska - April 16, 2002
California - June 4, 2002
Texas - May 8, 2001

So the K-3 is my only hope since I am waiting on Texas which says it could take 500 to 600 days to process our I-130. Meanwhile so many people will be getting their I-130 approved before their K-3 and the K-3 will be totally usless and a waste of money (and time for us people dealing with Texas).

I can't take much more...:(
