Default Midwest to Hertfordshire

Has anyone had any recent experience moving from the American Midwest to the London area or vice versa? I am interested to know what a reasonable cost to move a small flat's worth of furniture might be, and whether UK customs serve up any unpleasant surprises.

Thanks and best regards

Best thing to do is contact American expats who have recently moved to the UK:

http://www.americanexpats.co.uk (I think you now have to make a contribution to see some of the forums to help keep the site up and running).

My wife also uses www.uk-yankee.com

You do not have to subscribe to this site. Also, the site seems to be frequented by American ex-pats who have issues to discuss apart from the fact that they are unable to find their favourite candy!

Just speaking from my observations!

Posting on the "Moving Back to the UK" forum in British Expats might be more appropriate and helpful to you.
