Micro Chips on US Credit Cards

Re: Micro Chips on US Credit Cards
I have a Chase/British Airways credit card that is contactless. Used it all over Netherlands, Belgium, France and UK this summer. Worked great. The only place it did not work was a petrol station in France which had not been upgraded to contactless. There was no attendant (it was some type of holiday). Had to go elsewhere.

I have a Costco Citi Visa card which has contactless capability, I have used it in France, Belgium, UK, Australia and other countries with no issues. Australia has a much higher contactless limit than anywhere else I have visited.

Just got a replacement Chase debit card and it is contactless. It even works on the new OMNY readers on the NYC Subway. No more swiping Metrocards at long last!

Mrs L dropped her credit card onto the tiles in our kitchen and the micro chip came off. Seems like these are only stuck onto an indentation on the surface of the card and not a permanent part of the card. Well the Chase ones anyway, who said the chips coming off is not uncommon. Their concern was we could account for the chip.

Merchant liability maybe? Most places where I am in Canada now accept tap but some places still don't like Wal-Mart, Home Depot recently started accepting tap though. No signature though since our cards are chip and pin and most places wont accept a card anymore via swipe.
The banks I use all limit tap to $100 though.
I don't have smart devices like a smart phone or watch or such so can't pay via those types of things.
