Default michigan driving test

We are planning to relocate to michigan later in the year and was wondering how long do we get before we have to have a michigan licencse. We are coming out in August for 2-3 weeks would it
be possible to take the test then?

No, you can't take the test unless you have a residential address here.

You will need to take the written exam and then the practical.
There is no reciprocal agreement to just switch your UK license to a MI one.

You will also need to show proof of eligibility to be a US resident either
Green Card or I-551
or
EAD

also your foreign passport.

(unless your already a naturalised yank.)

Also if one of you do not hold a UK License... you have to hold a learners permit for at least 30 days before you can take the test.

Most likely

What a stupid question though I felt like answering 'oh don't I keep going and just hit it anyway?' but I bet they have heard that one before
