jerseygirl, he's not attracted to blondes so you're safe. He's rather fond of blue-haired ladies with beehives

Sorry, not true. Hospitals are only obliged to render 'life saving' treatment until the patient is stable under federal law, then they will be kicked out. The definition of 'stable' is different from state to state, and many private hospitals especially those run by the tenet corp flatly refuse to treat people, and will put acutely ill people in an ambulance and transfer them to the state hospital.

"As CNN's Anderson Cooper reports, the claim is that hospitals don’t like dealing with homeless patients, who are often uninsured and sometimes unpleasant to treat. So they literally dump them on the streets of Skid Row"

This was on "60 Minutes" on Sunday - very sad to actually see the tape of the woman being left on the street in her hospital gown, with no shoes, wandering around.
The mission had a CCTV "dumping cam" installed outside their facility to catch the hospitals dropping off the patients once they had the "stabilising" emergency treatment.

What became apparent to me was that the people with either A) A job that pays for good insurance and have as of yet not had to use it or B) People that have never used, or worked in, a US medical facility think US health care is great and the NHS is shite. Those that have either worked in/used health facilities or had to pay for their own insurance suddenly find the NHS not to be so crap after all.
