Re: Snow country USA--how do you clear your driveway in the winter?
.... which does snow removal ......
Back to the topic: we don't get much snow, but our driveway is about 70ft long and it slopes steeply uphill (it rises 10-12ft) towards the road, and we are as likely to get ice (which is effectively impossible to clear quickly) as to get a couple of inches, or more, of snow. So when any sort of winter storm is forecast we park on the edge of our lot by the road, because even with careful shoveling it is quite likely that we couldn't drive even as far as road! That said, on all but a couple of occasions in the past ten years, the snow or ice has melted on its own before the sun set, so doing anything to clear snow is a waste of time.

A quarter of a mile back in the woods, down two steep inclines, we have a guy come over with a plough and are lucky to get change from $100. When it was really bad a couple of years ago, he had to bring in a payloader to scoop the snow out so the pickup could get through. He will retire to FL on the proceeds of our driveway. Yeah, I know, we could move, but it is so beautiful for every other season of the year! (And in the snow too, if you don't have to go anywhere and forget the bill!)

Shovel it with a wide shovel, split it between us and the folks upstairs.
Old place, condo had a service take care of it which worked for us as we were one of the first buildings, but rubbish for the ones at the back.
Previous to that, landlord did it, with his bobcat...usually after we had to clear some of the driveway already.
Out in Maine, previous place also had people do it.
It's a couple hundred bucks down our way to get it done, so a tad pricey. Chap across the street or next door help out with a snow blower on the really bad blizzard days which is nice.

Landlord pays for snow crew to come and plow. They are the same crew that do the gardening in the summer. They typically do the snow removal at around 2am in the morning which is nice and noisy! We are in NJ.
