Hey guys,
We had quite a good turn out yesterday- about a dozen people. Lively conversation, several pints and talk of summer expat bar b ques were had.

We have since officially moved from meetup to yahoo groups.

Hopefully some of you from the area will sign up!

How is your group handling the fees that Meetup now impose on group (leaders)?

Just wondering...

This question was not directed at me, but thought I would put my two cents in as this is a subject of interest to me.

I was so irked by the new fees that I first deleted all of my posts/photos and all the work I had put into the group at meetup.com, stepped down as organizer and deleted my meetup.com account. I moved our little group over to FREE Yahoo! Groups. It seems a lot of folks did the same. $19...or even the discounted $9 a month for groups is completely ridiculous.

The guy who was organizer for my Meetup group started a Yahoo group for British Expats some time ago. Most Meetup members are also members in the Yahoo group so that's the way we'll be going for the Triangle area.
