my mother-in-law-to-be would like to marry her moroccan fiancé in early july. he's currently in the US on a G1 visa which is valid till the end of december 2001. the G1 is one which i'm not able to find much information on - does anyone know if there are any specific rules and regulations pertaining to it (i.e. having to spend time in one's own country once the visa is finished, or repaying an amount of money etc), or should it just be a simple case of marrying and filing for AOS?

thanks,

kate (who's not very happy with lawyers atm given the recent KBA action, but will push the m-i-l-t-b in that direction if sensible)

here's a link to the www.visanow.com G-1 page

http://www.visanow.com/visadetail_g1...-1#requirement s

I don't know about transition from the G-1 to a relative visa, but my hunch is, it's
like any other visa.

You might want to, gulp, consult with a you-know-what.

Check this page of the INS website for instructions -
http://www.ins.usdoj.gov/graphics/howdoi/spouselive.htm They can just get married,
file the I-130 and AOS package. Take Care. Shelley
