Malaysian passport renewal-in-US question
 

Am wondering if there are any US-residing Malaysians such as myself:

My Malaysian passport (issued about five years ago, has Electronic Smart Card) is due to expire at the end of 2003. Can I obtain a renewal or new passport at the Consulate General of Malaysia? I was informed by someone else that this was not possible and I would have to return to Malaysia for a renewal (which would be annoying, given my all-too-few vacation days) if the passport has such a Smart Card device.

Looks to me as if you can do it here in the US.
