They are very difficult to get and you are usually head hunted and have exceptional skills in your field, have had papers published, given lectures at international venues etc.

Yeah, it's the O1 that is super hard to get, with evidence of major awards and international reputation required.

The H1 is easier, although from what I can see seems to be more orientated to to tech companies where the candidate has to have a specific skill that is not already available in the native workforce.

In any case neither are relevant to the OP since she does not currently have an employer looking to sponsor her and pay for the application, which she would require.

H1 is often called the Indian Visa, a way of getting people withs skills, usually IT at a substantial discount to locals.

Why would anybody be interested in employing you when they have hundreds of locals knocking on the door without any immigration issues?

PS I hear Florida is nice.

I think short term your chances are slim to non given the US economy at the moment. I know of 2 Georgetown grads who have been looking for similar positions...both are still unemployed. Look at it as a long term goal...try to get a job with a company who have a US company...then if you're good enough at your job maybe you'll get a transfer.
