With cost of the product, it's just cheaper to buy a new replacement that's more modern after a couple years for most products anyway...

I would only ever buy one on something that would cost a shitload to replace parts on or get repaired. I paid nearly 2k on a laptop and got the extended warranty because when a laptop goes out you're pretty much *****ed.
