Hard to be sure, but her bio suggests that she and her first USC husband moved to the UK pretty soon after their marriage so she probably either lost her PR status or didn't have sufficient continuous presence in the US to naturalize.

.. and of course, she could have gotten married in the US without having an immigrant visa so she may never even have become a permanent resident ...

Technically they do not need the conviction, she seems to travel to the US frequently.

I never understood the whole John Lennon deportation scuffle. Wikipedia says that he had a misdemeanor conviction for cannibis possession in London in the late 60s that should have prevented his admission to the US in the 70s (?), but he was let in & led a high-profile life in NYC. The rumour was that Nixon tried to get him deported afterwards but failed. So was a misdemeanor conviction not looked at so seriously in those days by US immigration?

My problem with her is really just that I felt her heart wasn't in public life, basically, but I could be wrong, Just an impression I got when she was talking and also that "pick up my kids" moment as well.

I'm sure she'll be very happy in NYC..
