we are not paying a penny to the agent as she is paid by the landlord. Landlords seem to be very nice, they only asked for 1.5 month deposit and 1 month rent which I beleive is pretty standard. we are now looking at a way to pay the landlord the rent doing a transfer from our UK bank account so any recommendations are welcome!
Also, if anyone is moving to Newport beach area and looking for an estate agent let me know, our agent was really fantastic!
thanks again to all for your help
Congratulations!!! The easiest way to pay the landlord from your UK bank account would be to set up with HiFX or similar and do the transfer that way, straight in to the Landlords bank account. I think some people on here have set up a bank account over here before they move over, maybe search on some threads on that. Good luck with everything, glad you got the accommodation sorted out, that will be a big worry off your mind

Is your hubby still in Newport Beach? If he is have him open a bank account and then you could do a wire transfer directly into that account. We opened an account with Bank of American before we moved here so that we had bank cards, checks, etc right when we arrived.
