Re: looking to get out of the uk
why everyone is so concerned about the visas we have is beyond me! thanks for all your concern but i got it sorted, i have no need to discuss the how where's and when's of our visa's and permits, all i wanted to know was what the areas were like so far only 1 person has managed to answer without questioning visa's
TBH I couldn't care less about your visa's, if you have them sorted then good luck to you, whatever you're using is no business of mine.
Good luck with your move

Honestly, if everyone that wanted to contribute just answered the bloke's question about location rather than giving him the third degree and getting all wound up about his visa possibilities, things would become less heated.

Re: looking to get out of the uk
Some of the people here in the US still don't get my sense of humour, honestly... too bad. I've never heard any of them deny the gun crime figures though, or say they'd be chilled out to be in a dodgy area after dark if they weren't carrying. I've made such remarks about gun crime before and people either laughed, or agreed and commented on that's why they carry a gun all the time, so I doubt many in FL would take offence to anyone saying that kind of thing.

why is it not nice?
it was pretty spot on.
We are nosey....... but if he doesn't want to answer our questions we're not obliged to answer his.

It's probably been said already but here's my 5 cents on the matter.
I hope you know exactly which US visa you are eligible for and have certainty that you will be approved for.
Also, you do realize that the US is a recession. Those already in the US without jobs are having more difficulty than ever finding employment and there are many in employment who are discovering their work hours/days are being reduced or worse still are being made redundant.
I hate to paint a gloomy picture of the US but that is the current reality about the country.
Unless you or your spouse have a world class academic background and/or outstanding in your field of employment, then your route to emigrate to the US is very weak at most.
To get a snapshot of the US economy and in particular the job market, just read any US national newspaper online. e.g. New York Times, Washington Post or a current events periodical like Time, Newsweek, etc.
I won't even get into the topic of healthcare in the US. That's another thread entirely.
