Default Long Term Parking at JFK

Hey there,
I am flying out of JFK this coming Friday for a week. I am a bit apprehensive the long term parking will booked out when I arrive however, I cannot find any private company to make a reservation at.

Does anyone know if long term parking is ever a problem at JFK...even at xmas !?

Thanks,

Thanks,
I have parked there @ Xmas, Easter, July/August. Never had a problem. Some parking lots will be full, but others will not. Try to park near the bus stop, closest to the Bus entry point. If you are at the last bus pickup in your lot, the bus may be full by the time it gets to you. Hate that on a freezing cold 6.0 am flight. There are also several outside the airport parking Company's, never used them myself. Newark is similar. LaGuardia, now thats a different story, very minimal parking.

Believe it or not your best bet might be to book one night in one of the airport hotels.....they frequently offer 7-14 days of free parking. Lots of hotels around Heathrow and Gatwick do the same.

I remember seeing some info about this on a local NJ website; our nearest airport is Newark but some flights are out of JFK.

For an hotel stay with long-term free parking try:

http://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowUserR..._New_York.html

Discount coupons or/and hotel stays with free long-term parking at JFK (eg. Holiday Inn, Crowne Plaza):

http://www.longtermparking.com/

For long-term parking only, see the link here:

Just remembered something: where are you driving in from?

It might even work out cheaper to use a private car service to/from the airport instead of long-term parking.

Good car services are Carmel and Dial 7....although you will need to make a firm booking ASAP in case the MTA goes on strike tonight or in the morning:

http://www.carmelcarservice.com

http://www.dial7.com

The official website for the New York area airports (with car parking info is

http://www.panynj.com

Hope this helps!

Long term parking at JFK is only $10 per day and then you take the free airtrain to the terminals.

Hotel idea from EnglishMum is a great one if you are going for a week plus. I'm only gone for 6 night, so I'm guessing any hotel will be more than $60.

Dont ask !. I recently moved from Long Island to Columbus Ohio...so its about an 8 hour drive :scared: . I booked these flights months ago and recently (when I knew I would be in Columbus) tried to change my depature from JFK to O'Hare - cost $650 x 2 (me and Wife). Having heard that I thought it better to make the long haul over to New York. I am also keeping my fingers crossed for last minute flight deals to JFK but am not hopeful..

I've used this website to book off-airport parking at Newark before (usually a bit cheaper than going directly to the companies involved) -

Thanks,
I've parked there over Xmas / New Year with no problems...... If you have a handicapped badge, you can park in the short term car park and only pay the long term rates. This means you get to park about 100 feet from the terminal entrance instead of 3.7 miles away.

What about a bus? At least you can sleep for some of those 8 hours.

nahh...Im sure 8 hours driving by car at 75mph = 15 hours driving on a bus (+ stops/connections). I was thinking of a train but unfortunatly I would have to travel half way around the country to actually get to my destination !. Also apparently you cannot book a seat on a greyhound you would just have to hope on each connection there are some free seats...too stressful me thinks.
