Long term car hire

Can you hire a car long term (3 -6 months) in the USA and who offers this?
We are thinking of buying a property in Florida and coming over for a few months each year, but it seems very difficult to buy because of expensive short term insurance / getting a US driving license, etc, so long term rent would seem best
Thanks
Arthur

Yep, done that. You need to call them in the US, speak to the Manager (no one else), and get them to do you a special deal.

We ended up doing something called a short-term lease with Enterprise, about $750 a month if I remember correctly.

CDW (or whatever it is called these days) is the killer, of course. We used to get a travel insurance policy from American Express which included that (and medical cover, which is something else you need to seriously think about!). This travel policy covered holiday and business trips up to 90 days' duration. DK if they are still doing them of course.

hertz did us a Trailblazer at $850 a month for three months not including insurance - it took at look of wrangling with the management ...
