Local TV Lunch-time News
Unfortunate as the incident was this is how it was reported------
"A North Caraolina man drowned when he jumped into the lake and did not come up for air". Pullitzer prize stuff eh. |

Re: Local TV Lunch-time News
You know, most of the time I try not to come down too hard on things here in America, but the level of journalism by the local TV news people here in the states, is utter crap. Their one goal is to state the bleedin obvious. I also love the way the local news uses "Fire wrecked a house in Arkansas today" style stories because they need to fill an hour. I'm so glad I wasn't anywhere near that house that caught fire over 2000 miles away.

Re: Local TV Lunch-time News
I was on the local news back in January or February because their top story was that it had been snowing, and they wanted to film people out with their shovels. Bearing in mind this is Michigan and reporting that it's snowing here in January is like reporting that the Atlantic has water in it.

The local news in Charlotte NC led last year with a story about how three ducks had gone missing from a local pond.
I'm not joking. :D |

Re: Local TV Lunch-time News
I heard this one not long ago. "Two planes almost collided today, a representative of the airport has told our reporter that he considered this to have been a near miss, any closer and they would have collided".
Or how about (this was a radio news broadcast) "...told **** News that the dead man had been successfully resuscitated but had since died." (Depends on what you consider successful!) :D |
