Default local Police record checks and other questions

I seem to remember reading about local police record check requirements,
with translations.

My fiance is in Brazil, and I am in the process of trying to get her to
understand about the documents she must get for the initial I-129F and
G-325a. I think these are the requirements, but are there requirements some
place for record checks?

Copies of all documents are O Kay, as long as we have originals:

I-129F with her and my info, and her kids noted on the I-129F
G-325a, set for her and set for me, with original signatures, and (2)
attached photos, of new size, of myself, her and each
child, (8 total photos.)
Copy of photo and info pages of :
- my American passport
- Her Brazilian passport
- Her 2 kids, son, age 2 and dau., age 4 passports

- Certified copies, and translations of her and each child's birth
certificates
- FC-029 original documents statement notice
- I-824 Request for Further Action of Approved Petition
- Personal check for $??????
- Copy of I-134, which is notarized, with copy of supporting documents for
my fianc and her daughter and son.
- Copy of divorce documents for myself
- letters of intent to marry from each of us.

(1) Evidence of our relationship includes:
a. Letter of meeting circumstances stating how I met my fianc

b. Photos of us together in Rio de Janeiro and Aiuruoca, Brazil

c. Copy of my and my airline flight itinerary and baggage claim
tickets

d. Copy of hotel bills where we stayed in Rio de Janeiro

e. Copy of my telephone bills showing calls to my fianc

Other proof of relationship including correspondences

Now, my questions:
Is there somewhere a checklist of what is needed at the consulate in Rio de
Janeiro, when we finally get that far?
I will do a request for them to open a provisional file once the petition is
approved.
Is not there someplace information on an X-ray, a physical, and local police
checks?
Is there a list of what is included in packet 4 that is sent to the fiance
after the approval of the petition?

Any info or web links are greatly appreciated. I can do searches for weeks,
and still not find the valuable information that you great people already
know!

thank you very much,

tom

Hi Tom,

You actually don't need to (or shouldn't) send the I-134 along with the I-129F. Save the I-134 to send to your fiancee for when she goes to her interview in Brazil. Otherwise, it might get misplaced along the way. It's not part of the initial requirements.

I have never looked at it, but check the US Embassy in Brazil (not sure what city...Rio?) website. The embassy websites for each country usually list the procedure and paperwork required for visas. Try checking that site.

Usuallly, police reports are required from any country where the applicant lived for more than 6 months, since age 16.

Best Wishes,
Rene

p.s. - is the the same poster who was wondering how to help his fiancee get a passport in Brazil?

Also, not sure they can open a provisional file. You should check with them via email and see if they do that. To my knowledge, embassies no longer open provisional files. They wait until they actually receive the file from NVC.

Here's the website: http://www.embaixada-americana.org.b...ction=visa.php

If you scroll down a bit, on the right hand side it says "Immigrant Visas" and under that, "Forms for Fiance Visa"

I'd say that's your best place to start.

Yes, that sounds about right. Those are the forms your fiancee will fill out to apply for her K-1 visa, plus the medical and police certificate. You have already done the I-129F, and will be sending her the I-134. Not sure what the FS-257A is....that wasn't one we had to do in Turkey, to my recollection.

Yes, I was trying to help her get a passport for herself and her 2 children.
I had her contact a depichante, but the one she contacted in Caxambu wanted
$R300 just to talk to her. So, we are back to using the lawyer in Aiuruoca.
She tells me she got the photos, and I think the forms have been mailed to
the federal policia, but I am not for certain. Contact has been difficult
this week. I have been in the process of moving from North Carolina to
Connecticut.
Maybe now, that the move is over, things can get back on track!

the lawyer says the passports should be ready by December!

thanx,

tom

Hi Tom,

Glad to hear the passports are getting prepared. Have you moved after filing the I-129F? Have you received the approval NOA for that yet? If not, don't forget to send a change of address in writing to the service center, so they'll know where to send your NOA. You might also call the 800 number and notify them as well.

Best Wishes,
Rene

Tom:

She doesn't need the passports for the I-129F processing stateside. The passports are only needed when it comes time to get the VISA. PP's are not needed for the visa petition.
