Living & working in Raleigh North Carolina
Hi I'm Ross, I live in the uk. I'm new to the site and hope to find some answers.
My wife has just been offered a job in Raleigh it's a transfer through her company. But we are a little worried about my career. I'm a qualified plumber and have excellent experience in property maintenance.
Is there work in the area? Or would I find it hard to get work?

Work, probably. Will you be able to? Who knows, probably not easily.
Check out the state requirements on getting licensed, could be a combination of starting from scratch, or doing some exams and anything in between.
There's a thread recently asked about someone moving to Arizona, different state, but will give you some ideas of what you'll face anyway.
You'll also need an EAD to work, presuming your OH gets the L1 visa.

There is plenty of property maintenance work, but your lack of a local plumbing license may, or may not, be a problem. If you can't speak Spanish that may be more of a problem.

Judging by how long I have to wait for a plumber when I need one here in Chapel Hill, hopefully you'll be sorted. I wish you the best of luck.
We've been here coming up to seven years now, and love it for the most part. It gets very hot and humid in summer, be warned, folk just slow down, but you'll need a jacket, the air conditioning will be cranked beyond belief.
