Living in the US, working contractor for UK company
 

Hi,

I'm currently living in the US with a Green Card and working as an independent contractor for a UK company.

​​Recently, the waUK companys taken over by another and a few issues have arisen.

The new payment system is struggling with paying my invoices directly in dollars into my US account.

I was thinking about proposing they just pay me pounds into my UK account and then I just transfer it myself.

but I don't want to run into any double taxation headaches, would this happen if I transferred myself?

I'm currently not tax resident in the UK I pay taxes to the US govt.

The US and UK have a treaty in place that prevents double taxation and, in any case, the way you're paid should make no difference to your reporting obligations in both countries.

Are you paying the self-employment taxes or is the company doing all the US withholding and unemployment payments directly?

Is the issue paying you in US$ or paying to a US bank account?
or both?

You could you send them a bill in UK pounds which they pay from their bank account to your US one? Then your US bank can do the currency conversion for you. You declare to the IRS the amount in US$ that goes into your bank account here.

I would increase your rate for doing this - you are taking on the currency exchange risk.
Can they just pay you with a company credit card?
