We go to the Outer Banks every year with the family and have never heard that. We will check go and it out this year.

And here's the CWGC record for one of the men buried there..
For anyone who isn't aware of it, the CWGC database includes most Commonwealth casualties from the Second World War and other wars. It includes civilians and merchant seamen as well as service personnel. I've found it invaluable in researching my forbears.. as you'll see from Thomas Cunningham's record, the details often include parents and spouse.. |

Fascinating stuff, I'm interested in this as as I was very close to my grandad who served in the Royal Navy during WW2.
