Default Lies Damn Lies and the BBC (Fox News version)

Good old Fox "News" (you will notice the inverted commas) are at it again.

"Those un-American people at the Beeb have lied and their reporter was pro Iraqi and anti-American..."

No I won't go on - click this link* and watch for yourself as someone on Fox "News" gives his comment on the Hutton thing and how the BBC have LIED !!!!

You love this blokes attack of the "superior Beeb" and his flag waving at the end.

Dare you not to laugh.

* Flash player needed/takes a bit of time to load if you are 56k.

Oh dear. We hear about Fox news down under. Is that typical?

One would never guess Murdoch wants to end the BBC license fee.

A comment I found strange was "the BBC was Pro Iraq and Anti-American". Does that mean the US is anti Iraq or just Fox news is anti-Iraq?

No Aussie flags on the lappels here although it would not surprise me if it started happening.

Oh he's a nutter- you should have heard him the week after Diana died..he was with MSNBC then. He had a string of Brits phoning in open lines telling him off (me included) during that fateful week- he was way over the top- but the Brits were hilarious! I see he's found his way to the bottom of the pile, with Murdoch's Fox-what a buffoon.

Still doesn't change the fact that Gilligan lied. I won't comment on FOX news, but I can't trust the BBC now after the Gilligan ordeal and how smug he and his superiors were at trying to cover their asses. They still think they did nothing wrong.

Also, a friend of mine is a journalist for Reuters and he has colleagues who work at the BBC. He says that Reuters and the BBC do present the news from a left-wing perspective. Maybe you will call it “fair and “impartial, but I call it biased. Just as you guys call the right-wing FOX biased.

Double standard? Ohhhh...I don’t know.

I won't comment on this particular reporter as I very seldom watch Fox. On the other hand, I don't necessarily disagree with with his view on this matter. I do believe the BBC is questionable in their coverage of the Iraq war, and have no business claiming that they are better than US news channels, if indeed they are claiming such a thing.

Dear old Rupert has always been a complete and utter shite. Makes me laugh that the only way I can hear the truth about the US government is via the Beeb, the US media have long since given up their duty to provide a free and uncensored reporting of the news. Those that fought & died for that right will no doubt spin in their graves at the shame that brings the 4th estate.

And who exactly will "spin" in their grave over the BBC's recent disgrace? I do not believe the BBC is any more trustworthy these days than their US counterpart.

There's nothing wrong with the BBC that a little bit of commercial realism wouldn't sort out. With their secure state funding they are too comfortable and too smug.

I'd love to see what would happen if someone tried to introduce a tv licence in the US!

if you want to see what commercialism would do to the BBC- watch BBCAmerica- it is utter crap, in fact its an embarrassment now.

There are hundreds of people who would willingly pay the TV licence just to have BBC1. The TV licence is really cheap compared to what we have to pay for cable/satellite- I pay more in a month than they do in a year in UK. It's only the TV licence which can ensure BBC remains independent of the government and of the big media emporers, who have their own political agenda...Murdoch for one.

All the Americans I work with and know rely on the BBC website for their news- its the only news source they trust.

The BBC is still the only reliable source of information available, why else do so many US channels show the BBC news ?

The Afghanis have found that a recent US attack on an Afghan village did not as the US claimed kill 1 armed man, but 10 unarmed civilians. Now was that reported in the US ?

Yes because the $90 a month I pay for cable is a bargain compared to the £9 a month for a tv license.

That video is so funny it is not true. Fox news (fairly unbalanced) has the balls to tell anyone that they are not reporting the news correctly. There are some who still beleive the BBC was right, but they where honorable in defeat - George W Bushs cousin runs Fox News - doesn't that tell you the political agenda for the network

Even though the license may work out to be cheaper, I refuse to pay the gov't for the privilege of owning a tv. Compare that $90 a month some pay for cable here to how much you'd be paying for the same number of channels through Sky Cable (or other satellite provider) in the UK. You can get the basic stations, NBC, CBS, ABC, and FOX (not the news channel), KET, PBS for free (if you can handle horrible reception).
