Licence plate chuckle
Car in front of me this morning - 'BOLOCKS' - Union Jack sticker on back windshield. I guess Michigan DMV don't check for offensive British words

Actually fairly common, and legendary in the British expat community. I've seen at least one similar tag myself, and pictures of several more from states across the US.

Used to be one in the Bay Area too, but I think the DMV twigged as to what it meant.

Re: Licence plate chuckle
As the state DMV worked it's way through the combinations of letters here, a couple of years ago, they started issuing a batch of "WTF nnnn" tags, and had issued a load of them before someone pointed that it is a commonly used text and IM abbreviation!

I got cut off by a driver with the plate "K4RMA". Irony is a big thing right now.

Spotted "U TOSSR" or a very close variant in SoCal about a year ago. I'd always wondered if I could get a rude Finnish plate, but if they even let that through a plain old "TTUPRKL" should be easy enough

Re: Licence plate chuckle
I have a friend here in Texas that has the following two plates.
Old Git
Bollox
I was surprised he got away with Bollox - apparently it took a few different spellings before they would accept it!
Obviously he's a Brit too.
