Left the USA - Need advice on relocation
Hello Expats, would appreciate any tips on our last US Tax Return. We are back in London after being in the USA for 5 years. We arrived back 18 March 2010. I just need some advice in terms of our airfares and costs in returning home and whether they can be included on our last US Tax return which is due. Or maybe we can claim forit on our UK Tax return. Any tips on filling out this last IRS return would be very much appreciated.
It's great to be home, there have been some changes where we live and jobs are scarce, but all in all we really love being back. However, we really enjoyed being in the USA and feel very priviledged to have been able to have that experience. Our boys have benefitted tremendously and we have made some wonderful friends whom we will always be in touch with.

Unless you moved for the purposes of a new job in the UK then you can't claim your airfares and shipping against your 2010 US tax return.

Don't say if you got US citizenship or had greencards, but if you had, there's a requirement to still file with the IRS for a few years after on a greencard and permanently if a citizen.
