Default Lease agreement policy for guests

Hi,
So I have been given a lease agreement for an apartment which I plan to move in. The lease agreement mentions that I can have guests only for a maximum of 6 days. Is this a standard policy here (houston) ?
I was hoping to have family/friends from abroad stay us for a month or so.

Not only in Huston, but I believe it's a common policy throughout the country in rental properties.

Just amend it. Shouldn't be a problem. Wasn't for us.

See if you can negotiate it for a longer period. It is a standard sort of duration as they don't want hoards of people violating occupancy codes etc and be a nuisance to other tenants etc.

Just tell the leasing office. The policy should say "a maximum of X days without permission from the management" or similar language. They shouldn't have a problem authorizing the exception. The most they will want to do is know how many people are visiting and who they are, for security purposes, and so you don't go over occupancy limits for the duration. Having someone stay a week or two is routinely overlooked.
