Last visit to the U.k?

Re: Last visit to the U.k?
Last time was Christmas 2004. Next time will be Summer 2006.
Over the past 22 years, I've been home as often as twice in one year and as infrequently as 2 (maybe 3) years between trips.
Mostly, cost has stopped me going more often. The "lean years" were when I was a grad student.

Re: Last visit to the U.k?
I have now called USA home for 4 and a half years but get to go back every year at least once to see family and friends (part of my work contract to get one paid trip to UK a year). After 4 or 5 days I can not wait to return home to Ohio. I miss my family but I do not miss the crowding, traffic and bad attitudes - and the prices ! Will be returning in Nov for 11 days, that should do for another year. Now got green card so I have no intention of ever returning full time

This is a good topic!
I think I go back more often than most here. This year I have been three times, once in May, June, and then earlier this month and I'm back for Christmas too. I usually go four or five times a year.

So I guess geographical location is a factor in this. I see lots of great fares from nyc. Try to fly from Texas and its a different story

Have been here 16 years now, but get back every 1 - 2 years. Am going back June 2006 for a month for hubby's 40th birthday festivities and can't wait! Asked him what he wanted to do to celebrate this huge milestone and he told me he wants to be in England when they win the World Cup! He is convinced they are going to win next year being that the last time they won was the day he was born, 1966!! We shall see!

Ive been here 20 years and been back 7 times? However 3 of those visits were in the last couple of years.
I think the longer you are here, once the novelty wears thin and the "materialistic" stuff becomes less important, the more you realise that home is where the heart is. (and a good pub surrounded by friends with a sense of humor)
I will certainly go home, but exactly when??

Re: Last visit to the U.k?
Only got here in July.
Heading home for 2.5 weeks over Christmas and then I have 2 weddings to attend next June so I'll be back then (nice that they happen to coincide with the world cup).
I guess I'm lucky compared to many here in that flights from Chicago are reasonable and I get 25 days hols a year ontop of the public ones.
Really looking forward to xmas at home as I've been here for the last 2. Think it will either make staying here permanently a lot easier or make it a lot harder and result in me moving back at some point in the near future.
Hoping that it only takes me a day or 2 to catch up on the biz at home and then I'll realise that I'm not missing as much as i think i am.
Also can't wait for a large fry-up, a pastie supper and a whole day spent in the boozer watching footie

Think I would struggle if the option to go home for a good holiday wasn't available to me.

I went back a few weeks ago, after being here for 18 months.
It sucked.
