UPS was supposed to deliver some packages to us last winter. They didn't arrive when we expected them so my wife called and was told they had been delivered. She told the woman they had not been delivered and it got slightly heated from there. The lady finally said she'd look into it. The next day we recieved a caall from her stating that she had talked to the driver. He had decided he didn't want to risk getting his truck stuck in our driveway or couldn't find our house (we've heard both with various deliveries and I can't remember which it was) so he took the package to town, 6 miles away, and left it at the tiny Mom and Pop full service gas station/old farmers coffee shop there and marked it delivered.

My Wife is still not pleased. She holds a grudge.

EDIT: How many times have you received someone else's mail in your mail box. I have. I've never received another person's package by mistake from UPS. Sometimes that extra day can cost you more than the postage.
The street I live on has a NE side and a NW side, for a while we were constantly getting packages meant for the NW side and ALWAYS from UPS. Although in fairness I occassionaly get letters with USPS too... but at least it is not huge boxes left at my door like from UPS.

Well I have tracking - I can track all the wrong places they are sending stuff.

And have you ever tried to collect on the post office's insurance? I have - and I didn't.

USPS are not the only ones that screw up... note my response above about UPS delivering packages to my house meant for a medical supply company on the other side of town.

Okay well I am awaiting the arrival of some baby rose bushes via UPS. Have been tracking them and they sat up in ATL all day yesterday so it will be interesting to see how they are when they arrive today. They left Oregon on Monday.

I have another order coming via USPS Priority Mail-same thing baby bushes, coming from CA this time so we shall see. Company only mails out on Mondays.

The Rose Society picnic I went to on Hilton head a few weeks ago-the hosts (a retired couple) had 470!!!!

The ones I am ordering are not your normal ones-more of the OGR hard to find varieties and known for being especially fragrant,

Vintage Roses in CA, Cindy?

I use FedEx for accountability and USPS for cheap and fast. I mailed a 3 lb package from Austin to Boston in under 12 hours for $29! The same package on FedEx would have been $100.

Heirloom order came Thursday, Vintage order is shipping next week-

Heirloom came by UPS and Vintage to come by USPS.

We use FedEx at the office, normally 2 day which sometimes only takes 1 day and sometimes 2.

I think Fedex is guaranteeing it in 2 days, if you get it in one it's a bonus.

Glad your roses came ok so far.

Thanks, in spite of record breaking heat-not bad at all. They did get watered the minute I unwrapped them. Phew.

That's good going because the petrol alone would be well over $100 if you drove it down

True -- but I could use a break from the heat!

Because NHS trusts are regional and have their own budgets to spend how they like. Shocking but true.
