Heard on the radio that 90 out of every 100 people in the US owns a gun this morning. Scared the living crap out of me.

He was a druggie who had escaped earlier that day and the police had been searching for him. There are only 3 houses on our road and it's quite rural...not the sort of place you would normally find people walking around. He is now back behind bars. Makes one wonder what could have happened if we'd opened the door.
All summer we leave all our doors open ...it does make you think...glad you did not open the door...I'll go close mine now......

The last 'crime' we had in this area was around 20 yrs ago...so it is classed as a 'safe area'...but yes it does make you think. I hate to admit it but I am thinking of getting a XXX. See I don't even want to say the word.

thats a distorted statistic

maybe 90 guns for every 100 people, certainly not 90 out of 100 people

If, from what you say, the last crime was 20 years ago in your area, and this was an isolated case (albeit extremely un-nerving), why are you even considering getting a gun?

They clearly scare you, so why go that route?

I'm confused

How terrifying for both of you! Good to know that you are safe and nothing happened.

What you need is a golden lab. The growl and bark would scare anyone!
