Knickers in a Twist
Couldn't see if this had been posted before, if it has - sorry. Anyway I bought a copy of this book for some of my American friends and this book is bloody funny and may go some way to bridging the language gap between us and our American pals.
Random flick through the book to page 156: Phrase: Fanny Magnet Translation: Something or somebody who exudes sexual magnetism no woman can resist. Choose a page number up to 176 and I'll post a pick from the page. |

Or not, as the case may be, Ray....... :) I have a question along these lines. I've seen in some BE posters profiles or tag lines, reference to "septics". Is this an expression for American? If not, how have I misinterpreted it, and if so, why? Help me, Mr. Ray. Or perhaps we could turn to the Reverend MightBe for guidance. In Holy Reverence, ~SecretGarden |

Both of you keep your station .....don't try to exceed it ..
A hard bit with London slang is the fact it keep getting shortened e.g So if I say to you can I use your dog ..... It originated as dog and bone = phone Or Are you Mutt .... Started out as Mutt and Jeff = deaf ... |
