Kilingons on starboard, Arabs on Port

Everyone is talking about it yet it has not been mentioned once on here (I did a search, something I rarely do!)

So, has the Bush administration policy of keeping America scared so that it is controlable backfired? For almost 5 years we have been told to be scared of terrorists - who are from the middle east, now (when money is involved) there is no problem with them. I agree, there is nothing to fear from and UAE company looking after American ports but the American people are so worried (thanks to Bush and Fox News telling them to be) that they are telling Bush No! They don't it.

So, has the propaganda backfired? Should Americans truely be worried about the UAE running American Ports or is it just Americans not understanding the whole story?

It's kack fox news scary people, that and a fair few of those senators probably don't know where the UAE is, or what it is all about...

There was a thread in the ME section thad kind of went into this, well more of an amusing rant really, but it's worth a peek to get perspective from the expats living out there...

Sorry to bring it back on course but imo for what it is worth US citizens have the shite shaken out of them every day. I heard it said that only 6% of containers are inspected on arrival under the present system. If that is not open season for the scaremongerers I do not know what is. Having the UAE running them is not going to improve/harm the existing status quo. A lot of hot air over sod all.
