A rather eclectic and and slightly bourgeois selection there. No room for a Peak Freans selection?

I have been drinking tea since I was small too. Don’t think there’s been any harm done! If you’re worried about the caffeine, you can also buy decaf teabags…she’ll never know the difference.

On a side note, (whilst i’m sat here in Switzerland enjoying my tea and Jaffa Cakes), can you actually buy Jaffa cakes and PG-Tips in the US? I’m moving to LA at the end of the summer and I’m wondering whether I need to ship a container full?!

Cheers,

Laurie

Yes, you can find them. Expect to pay a premium though. There's a British Foods thread which lists peoples finds in various different parts of the country.

I saw a version of Jaffa Cakes (German, I think) in Aldi. Haven't bought them yet but their version of Bourbon Creams were nice, so they'd probably do at a pinch. Only $1.99 for a box of them ...

Thanks Bink, that is good news (apart from the premium part)

Yes, those are the same ones we get here in Switzerland. They’re good, but not quite as good. I have to bulk buy real ones when I’m back in the UK.

Cheers,

Laurie

You'll be able to find plenty of places in LA where you can buy British food, though. It is a bit more expensive but it's nice to know they are available ...

Ice tea is a big thing down here - can't stand it myself, but kids grow up on it in the same way Brit kids grow up with hot tea.

My little almost 6 year old daughter also likes hot (well, warm) tea - not that she drinks a ton of it, but she loves having little tea parties for the two of us - lays out her little tea set and everything, its nice

Thanks folks, not sure why I have been feeling a little uneasy about it; probably because no kids drink tea here, but then hardly anyone drinks tea. Although I was forgetting about iced tea.

Not to worry, by the time she's eight you will be having to consider the small beer question - kids in England were given that to drink not so long ago as their main drink, especially at school.

I think remember that, didn't Thatcher take the beer away or something and replace it with milk?
