K-3 police check, in person?
 

does anyone know... the police checks that I will have to have done for the K-3 visa, do I have to go in person to each of the police stations or can I request them in writing? I will be requesting them from the RCMP in Vancouver (Lower Mainland)

Anyone already gone thru this process? Thanks!

I haven't done this yet, so this brings up a good question: Has anyone used this service or a similar service? What has your experience with this service been? Does INS completely accept people using this service?

It says you need a police certificate for every city/town/locale you've lived in since 16... but the fingerprint police certificate I will be getting is good for all of Canada? Shouldn't that cover it?

We're applying for the 1-130. Is that a K3 or what?

I don't recall anything on my paperwork about getting finger prints taken.
Am I missing something?

I went to my the RCMP head office in my province and said I needed my record
for US immingration. They mentioned nothing about fingerprints.

I finally got some answers regarding this... if you've never been arrested you only need the regular check (no fingerprints) but if you've ever been arrested (even if not convicted) apparently you will still need the fingerprint type check. I sent an email to the Vancouver consulate just to get the info straight from the horses mouth... I'll post whatever info I receive.

You apply for the I-130 first, then once you get the receipt that the INS has received it, you file the I-129F (which is the paperwork for the K-3 Visa)
