Justice for a Brit Fighting Death Penalty in FL
Error: the title has been changed but when you see it listed in the USA forum, it shows up with the original title!!
Has anyone been following the story about the fight for justice for a Brit who's been jailed in Florida for the last 18 years (15 on Death Row)? See-

Update: The Brit's supporters have a website dedicated to getting him a fair retrial-

Kenny Richey, Now a UK citizen from Holland (but lived a long time in Edinburgh)
the case has more holes than Swiss Cheese.
apparently he climbed on a roof of someone's house and poured petrol all over the roof and set it alight.
he had a broken arm at the time
his lawyer, was a patent attorney, and had never done case trial law before.
He entered the building to try and rescue said victim once, but was beaten back by the flames.
it's kind of ridiculous, the case against Ken is a joke.

sorry Penguin, didn't wanna hijack your thread though.
there have been a lot of British people killed on death row. The past two in Georgia, but they were wicked evil pricks so I didn't give a toss. It seems that your case also has serious flaws.

The prosecution argued that the defendant (business man Krishna Maharaj) had clear motive to kill the father and son, the defense had every opportunity to rubbish this argument but obviously failed to do so most likely because the defendant had reason to see the father and son butchered. It is arguing semantics and technicalities whether the defendant was there or not to do the murders if in fact the defendant conspired to have the father and son brutally killed.
It seems the big legal problem here is getting evidence admitted to support a new trial when the evidence was available but not presented at the original trial. The same rule applies in the criminal system in England and Wales (the US system of justice is at least partly modeled on the English criminal justice system). A man in Wales was sentenced some time back to killing a teenager, there was a lot of evidence that pointed to his innocence but his legal team failed to present this evidence, for reasons best known to them, at the original trial; this kind of evidence can’t provide a legal basis for getting a new trial. The US rule is essentially the same as the English rule, new evidence must be that: NEW EVIDENCE.
The defendant was at the scene of the crime, admitted that he was in the room (couldn't maintain a denial that he was there because his finger prints were found in the hotel room). There was ample evidence that the defendant had clear motive to kill. A witness said the defendant planned to have the victims killed. As a matter of law absent genuine new evidence there is no legal basis to grant a new trial, motion to grant a new trial denied.

Or give 6 teens probation for kicking another one to death. Or a couple of years for burning a pupil to death in a skip. On the whole I admire the American justice system compared to Britains. Life means life here, not 10 years.

We all know you get a fair trial before they hang you. You cannot let evidence get in the way of a good lynching

You know what the funniest thing about lethal injection? They swab your arm with alcohol first
