Default Just Saw This

I was looking at a companies website when I saw "Client will not accept candidates with Visas" Surely that can't be legal?

I think the client is a bank but I don't know. I wasn't looking to apply, I just saw it and was a little surprised.

Yes it is. A visa is not permission to work.

My husband used to work for a firm in the mid-west and he had to walk around with a bright red sign saying alien, restricted access on his security badge and was restricted in his transfer as to what jobs he could 'apply' for cause of that.

At least now once he gets his green card no job is off limit to him, but he wants his green card quick as the area he is interested in, he is not allowed to work there yet, cause of this restricted visa issue.

Idiot company probably wouldn't know a visa if it hit them on the head. What they mean is they don't want johnny foreigner working there.

Get the feds to kick the racist m-fing bastards here. Or send me the advert and I'll do it myself.

Technically you don't need sponsorship for all of those, at least I don't think you do. I had a J-1 and could work for whoever I wanted, it was only valid for 4 months but still.

True ... I was thinking in terms of a person sponsored on a J-1 to be a Nanny which is how most of the people I work with employ their nannies.

Is a green card not a type of visa ???
Why put it in the ad that visas need not apply if they can't in the first place ??

Its def a "You're not welcome here stranger" if ever I saw one.

No, it is not.

And there are certainly some types of employment that will not be obtainable by someone with only a green card and can only be filled by a USC with top security clearance.

A green card is proof of permanent residency and is obtainable by certain immigrants who came to the US using one of many kinds of visas to enter the country.

** Steps back and watches you correct yourself/apologize towards Rete**
